When you exchange currency at most banks, you get one number: a rate. What you don't see is that the rate already contains a fee — usually 1 to 3 percent — buried inside the spread.
We don't think a steward should ever have to guess the fee. So we show three numbers, always: the mid-market rate, our fee, and what you receive.
The 0.2% promise
Avin's standard FX fee is a flat 0.2% on top of the live mid-market rate. There is no second markup hidden in the rate. There is no weekend surcharge. There is no minimum.
"Show the rate. Show the fee. Show the result. Then stop talking."
Why this took two years to build
Streaming mid-market prices into a regulated banking ledger, with the audit trail to prove each conversion settled at the displayed rate, was the hardest piece of infrastructure we have shipped. It's also the piece we are most proud of.
